VeilNorth is an independent publication about privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital rights. This policy explains what information may be processed when you visit veilnorth.com, follow an external link, or contact us.

1. Information collected automatically

The VeilNorth website is delivered as a static website. We do not currently operate user accounts, comments, purchases, or an on-site newsletter form.

Our hosting provider may automatically create standard server logs when a page or file is requested. These logs can include an IP address, request time, requested URL, browser or device information, referring page, and technical error data. Such logs are generally used to deliver the site, maintain security, diagnose faults, and prevent abuse.

2. Analytics and advertising

VeilNorth uses Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity only after a visitor actively accepts optional analytics through our privacy notice. If analytics is declined, these services are not loaded by our consent script.

Google Analytics helps us understand aggregated traffic, popular pages, devices, and referral sources. Microsoft Clarity helps us understand aggregated interaction patterns such as scrolling, clicks, heatmaps, and session insights. We do not use Google advertising features, advertising personalization, or analytics data to sell personal information.

You may withdraw or change your choice at any time by selecting Privacy Settings in the footer. Withdrawing consent blocks future analytics loading and attempts to remove analytics cookies stored for this site.

3. Cookies and local storage

The site uses local storage for essential preferences such as the selected light or dark theme and your analytics consent choice.

When analytics is accepted, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity may use cookies or similar browser storage for measurement. These are optional and remain blocked until consent is granted. See our Cookie Policy for more details.

4. Information you send us

If you email VeilNorth, we receive the information contained in your message, such as your email address, name, attachments, and any other information you choose to provide. We use it to read and respond to the message, assess editorial tips, manage corrections, address security reports, or discuss partnerships.

Please do not send highly sensitive information by ordinary email. For confidential tips, contact us first to agree on an appropriate method.

Routine server logs may be retained according to the hosting provider's settings. Editorial correspondence may be kept longer when it forms part of research, a correction record, or an ongoing business relationship.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of certain data. These rights are not absolute and may be limited by legal obligations, freedom of expression, journalism exemptions, security needs, or the rights of others.
